By the way, filter was $28. It is a felt insert filter, different than any I have seen.
I would guess that the filter and location is different for the 320CDI and the 350/500?

You're going to want the oil filter wrench to make removal and torquing back into place easier; and I hope you have a vacuum oil extractor. That makes the job so much easier and less messy. This one works very well:

I hope you purchased your oil at the dealer, too; since the Mobil 1 oil spec'd for that engine is available only at MBUSA dealers. I hope they don't over price it as much as they over priced your filter. List price is $5.90/qt. My dealer charged me $5.25/qt.

320CDI. Changed at 10000 miles and the advice on how to remove the engine shrould was right on. Came off w/o problem. What a bueatiful piece of machinery under that plastic! Now, how to reset the maintence schedule? Tried the holding the R button and turning the ignition off and on. Did not work.
Hate to go to the dealer to have it reset. The A service is quoted at $175!
Lot of money to change oil even when using the Formula M Mobil at $26/gal.
This vehicle continues to amaze me on how good it is.

They're burying the maintenance stuff deeper and deeper under things so that the shade tree mechanic can't find it. This'll do it.
