Speed Sensitive Volume Control

When I took delivery of my ML I specifically asked the dealer to turn this function off using the SDS (Star Diagnosis System). It took and extra 30 minutes for them to do this and they confirmed it was done. And indeed, there is now no speed sensitive volume control. But, I have been concerned that this may have also disabled any "loudness" (Fletcher-Munson) compensation function as well (because I still can't believe that somebody somewhere OK'ed the Harmon Kardon audio system). Since they might be linked, I asked them to turn the speed sensitive function back on so I could check for this possibility. Now they claim the "car does not have this function" (from service report). I have heard of options disappearing from the SDS menu after things are turned off (this happened on my SLK).

So, can anyone with a US 2007 ML and the H-K audio system confirm whether their audio system does not does not have speed sensitive volume control?

Thanks,

- FD

Our 07 ML320 CDI has HK system and doesn't have speed sensitive audio.
It is so quiet that it would bother me to adjust volume down driving faster.

Not certain but I do not believe that the 06 and 07 ML's with or without the HK system have speed sensitive volume control. I did in my ML500 in 02 but that was the Bose system. In any case I find the HK far superior to the Bose in past generation MB's.

Took the car for a ride on the weekend but it does not seem to control volume depending on speed. Got up to to 110 mph and nothing.

Thank you everyone for your help. It seems that the H-K does not have the speed sensitive volume control. For the record, I really don't like the feature and have had it turned off on my SL500 (R129), but I thought the the E.Q. may be tied into it on the H-K system, so I wanted to see if it could be turned on and thus improve the sound of the system.

Thanks again.
