Tire Question
I have an '07 ML350 standard suspension with 16K. Around 12K I noticed that at speeds above 30 the tires begin to sound like I am driving a truck. At highway speeds the noise is extremly loud. Took it to my independent MB service shop and they are going to look into it. Anyone else experence this? Also has any one replaced their tires and if so what did you purchase.
Also, anyone traveling to Stowe VT Oct 5-7 for the German Car Show?

German vehicles are notorious for chopping tires due to caster. Caster is the alignment spec that causes the high speed stability that Geman vehicles are known for. Different brands of tires are less likely to chop and different driving styles (being easier in low speed turns) will prolong this condition but most high caster setting vehicles will chop tires.

The frequency the tires emit is dependent on the treadwear. The wind whistles through your tires' treads. for some brands it is more important to evacuate tires rather than be silent. Usually truck tires whine a lot because they need deep trads to handle snow or mud. If you want less road noise go for a touring tire next time my Pirelli Pzero rosso' were expensive but worth the extra dow!
