It's not going to work anyway because you need a different seat base as reported in post 14 of this thread.

you are probably right, but i am hoping the different seat adjuster is for the headrest moving. if so maybe the other parts of the seat will still adjust. just a thought. thanks

I'm not you're going to get this to work unless you replace the seat base as well. Cars with memory seats need to have what is known as an indexer that tells the controller exactly what the seat's current position is. Non-memory seats do not need this because they just have a limit switch that stops the motor when the seat is at the end of its travel. The occupant of the seat is the "indexer" for these seats (e.g., if your butt feels good and you can see out, the seat must be in the right position).

There are two types of indexers commonly used - relative and absolute. I'm not sure what type MB uses, but either type adds additional cost so I'm sure MB wouldn't put them in the non-memory seats just to make both parts the same. Without an indexer, even if you get the MB memory controller and switch, it won't be able to read and store the position of the seat and thus won't work.

+1

The dealer should have the coutesy of either NOT touching your adjustments or at least returning them to the original settings.

I think they forget (or really don't care) whose car it is... YOURS

Everytime I get back in the car after my wife drives I have to search for the right combination of all of the above.

I spend half the trip adjusting things!!

Very frustraiting

I'm starting to get that sinking feeling on this post though.

I don't think it's going to have a Happy Ending.

And if you're 5'2" and the mechanic is 6'4" how is he going to get in your car to fix it?

He can do whatever he has to do to perform the service, and once done with his work he should put it back the way he found it. Back to the way the owner of the car left it when he entrusted the vehicle to the mechanic's care.

Just a little courtesy that puts a quality experience aside from an experience at a shop or dealership that doesn't give a crap about their customers, in my opinion.

If a repair guy comes to your house and they move something like a couch or anything out of the way to work on whatever they're there to work on, I expect them to return whatever they've moved, back to where it belongs.

It should be no different with your car IMO

I guess my point is... It should be more about the customer and too often it's not.

Any updates?

Were there any updates to this? I have a 2008 Special10 that doesn't have the memory seat. really? What a joke. Would love to add it by replacing the panel

Status Update

So what was the outcome? Can you upgrade to the memory seat option with just the module? Same issue here with 08 ML350 Special 10. Every option including heaterd seats, but no memory? Rediculous IMO.

It is indeed possible, however, the module has to be changed to one with that option coded. The wiring may not be there, keep that in mind.
