![Question](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
Are they easy to add to a truck that doesn't have them? They are the only thing I want out of the PII package... I don't want to pay 3K just for memory seats

I asked the same ? of my dealer after our purchase and although he didn't offer a specific $ amount he said it would be cost prohibitive and wasn't even sure it could be done. This is one of the things I wish we had. My wife drives the car to work during the week and it's mostly mine on the weekends so this was one of the features I would have definetly wanted. It's a real pain searching for the optimal position every time I get in the car after my wife has been driving and it's especially aggravating when I hit my head on the way in cause the seat is too far forward. If you find out diferently I would be happy to hear it. Good Luck

as paul said...it'd probably make more sense just getting the P2 for the extra 3 with all the other options as the installation of memory seats (if possible by the dealer) would cost a lot IMO
I personally couldn't really care for the memory seats and wasn't that disappointed that I dont have them...I got the Edition 10 in exchange

Thanks guys. I was hoping it would all be neatly packed in the seat controls and it was just a matter of popping out the non-memory control and replacing it with the memory control...
Oh well,
Jose

Hey guys, to resurect this thread....
I've been looking around EPC Net and it appears that there is only one control unit for the power seat. And, there are two switches, one with the memory capability and one without. Both switches show side-by-side and they appear to have the same connector to the control unit.
I am really starting to think that the driver seat memory function could be added by just swapping the switch. -- Granted, of course, that the switch would only control the seat; not the stearing wheel or headrest. The big question are the mirrors!
So, WHATDAYAGUYSTHINK???? :-)

I would settle for just the seat function but it sounds too simple to be true. If this were the case why didn't my dealer offer to do it and charge me a fortune? Then again judging from my experience so far with the service department here, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't know the right answer. This is my first MB and I don't know what service departments are like at other dealers but the one at Greenwich CT is a total disapointment. ![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)
Anyhow, it would be great to find out this could be done as you say. Has anyone else asked a Dealer about it? Thanks

Hey Pauly,
Yes. I asked the parts guy and he looked at me like I was a Martian! -- We need a MB mechanic who understands the car's systems and can get us some answers. I posted my question on the Tech forum (which is supposed to be moderated by a MB Tech person) but got no answer. I'm not sure where to go from here...

NLRL, I don't know Steve from Benz ML. Sorry, can't help you there.
theboogers, the more I read about it, the more I suspect you could simply replace the control module on the seat and you're good to go.

Maybe re-post on the "Tech" forum or under "General Merc Discussions"?
Don't seem to be getting any answers here.
BTW... who's Steve?

Note item #20 in attached printscr from EPC.
There are different part numbers for "seat adjuster" for trucks with memory and trucks without.

theboggers,
Sign up with a free membership at StarTek (EPC online), which is MB's online part catalog. It will ask you for a credit card number but the membership is free. Here's the link: http://epc.startekinfo.com/epc/coverage.jsp
The interface is pretty straight forward and it will allow you to see all the parts of the truck.

patience grasshopper, i am a slow worker. i got the button module but see there is a control module under the seat that i think has the memory control. i haven't checked yet but my parts guy thinks the wiring harness is different between memory and non memory cars. it may not work. i haven't ordered the memory module yet to see if it will work and haven't checked the wiring yet.
