Xenon lights on 2006 ML500
Folks,
I am looking at 2006 ML500 for my wife and have a couple of questions for ML500 owners here.
1. Xenon lights -- do they come standard on the ML500 or is this a special package that needs to be added to the car at the factory?
2. How is the overall reliability for the ML500? I know the previous W163 was a service nightmare. The car I am looking at had the factory warranty but I wanted to hear comments from the existing owners.

Xenon lighting was an option in 06 and came with the "lighting package" it also included washers. Don't be mislead by some guys here that say it can be retrofitted it can, but not the entire system including the active headlight portion and the self leveling portion (or washers). The lack of self leveling makes the lights dangerous to oncoming traffic and illegal is some places. The factory installation is excellent and I don't know why anyone would pass up on this option.
As for reliability, its excellent and I have experienced flawless operation since Sept 05 when I took delivery. As for the prior ML's being a nightmare, not so. I had a 98 and an 02 prior to my 06 and they were just fine. A few issues that were easilly resolved by my very competent dealer but overall OK.

2006 ML500
Compared to the AMG S-class and CL-class cars I've had, the ML has blown them away in terms of reliablilty (2006 ML500). Of course, those cars were 2003 models with similar mileage but a little more age than the ML. Look in the garage of any MB dealership and you always see a bunch of 03-05 CL's being worked on. 
Anyways, the only thing I've had so far in the ML is the auto-up drivers window doesn't work and the power outlets are all inop (must be a fuse or something I'd guess). I'm going to knock on wood that these are the biggest problems I'll come across for a while!
