Question Big Price Differences on A Service

I've been noticing allot of very different quoted costs for the "A" service across the boards and wondered if it is just my location or does it also have something to do with the model as well.

I noticed some folks are paying as little as $100 or less in some cases but am not sure if they own MLs or not.

My NY dealer wants $375 for the first service and this just sounds a little much to me.

So if you’d like to chime in I would appreciate knowing...

How much are you guys paying for an A service?

Thanks in advance.

A service should take an hour plus cost of materials.

$375 is a rip off. So is the $250 my stealer wanted.

9qts Mobile1 0W-40 $54
Fleece filter $27
2 - 24oz Buds $2.40
Sense of accomplishement after changing my own oil - priceless

Beleive me, I hear ya!

I am not at all fond of the stealer experience but don't want to give them any excuses, in case I ever need them to honor the warrentee.

I have never bought a car to a dealer for maintenance service but this is my first MB and I want to do it right.

Thanks for weighing in.

I found a few different prices also. From $300 to $245. My local dealer wanted $178 for just the oil change and again I found different prices on this too. I finally bought my own mightyvac and did the change myself. The delaer charged $5.90 a quart for the oil and the filter was under $20. I had some operator error resetting the service reminder but other than that everything seemed to go fine. The cleanest oil change I've ever done.

In East TN, the local dealer charged $100 for the A service. I usually go back th the dealer for services within the warranty period and do my own and/or go to an independent shop after that. This is my 10th MB and have never had any warranty issues that could relate to service, but considering the purchase price, the warranty period services aren't much from my dealer. If I were looking at $375 for an oil change though, I would be looking somewhere else!

Ouch

I'm lookin' but not having much luck finding any indies in my area. I've posted a few requests for referals but no one's talkin'.

Guess I'll just have to bite the bullet till the warranty is up.

Oh well... Life in the Big City I guess

You might try this link as somewhere to start looking for an indie.
