Grabby brakes??

The first ML I drove was an 06 350 and I noticed the brake feel was very grabby. I bought my 2006 ML500 and the brakes seemed fine. Now, they are starting to feel the same way. It's like you push the pedal down and nothing....then it grabs harder than you wanted. It seems to vary day to day. Anyone else experience this? I'm taking car in for service next week and I'm going to write them up.

We have the very wonderful SBC braking system on our E and the GL brakes--same as your ML--feel really crappy in comparison.

I have a little over 30,000 miles on my 2007 ML320CDI; and the brakes are some of the smoothest I've experienced. My only gripe with them is the dust!

brake

My ML 350 2006 brakes were S L U G G I S H. I brought it in only after 2 months and they changed the entire brake master cylinder. The brakes feel fine now. I don't think it is smooth and nothing special. It feels the same as my Honda, Toyota, Lincoln and Mini Cooper. Mercedes had the worse problems that I ever had with any car I own or lease in the past (I had it serviced 7-8 times within a year for problems). Lease will expire next year. Time to celebrate?! lol...

I'll be sure to post what they find at the stealership. They almost seem to be getting worse by the day!

Wonder if this has anything to do with being the first model year (2006)? I have a 2006 ML350 and its been in for servicing more times than I can count. Six sets of shocks, air bag sensor, power steering pump, belt pulley, a/c unit, trans reprogram, radio updates, faulty review mirror..just to name a few off the top of my head. Nothing has left me stranded or posed any serious safety problems and all have been fixed without drama from my dealership. They have really just been more of an annoyance than anything and they never happened at the same time, so it required multiple trips in to be serviced. Hopefully some owners of the newer models can post and tell us the problems have been worked out.

Yeah, it's probably the 1st model out. The biggest headache for me is to drive 2 hours ONE WAY to go to a stealership and get my car fixed. You would expect the AMOUNT of money we pay we should have a GREAT car!

My service advisor had recommended an 07 or newer ML rather than the 06....did I listen?....

Oh, well. Still love the car!
