Best place to get 12V power

I just purchased a M350 and was wondering were to pick off 12VDC for My Iphone. I would like to place it in the glove box or in the center console next to the bluetooth adapter. I really do not want to use the lighter ( not clean and wires hanging around ). I am good in electronics so technical issues should not be a problem.

The Bluetooth with an Iphone works perfectly using the MB NAV system.

I don't know if it's still there on the 2008; but the 2007 has an undocumented additional power socket under the dash - just above the front passenger's left foot. You could certainly tap off the back of that and run it up to the glove box very easily.

I had the Ipod integration kit installed and just plug my iPhone into the connector in the glove box when I need to charge it in the car. Normally the iPhone rides in a dash holder from proclipsusa.com. I also have a 12v power port on the lower back side the the center console. I guess you could run the cable up between the seat and center console and just lay the phone by the drink holders.

Be careful with the 12v power outlets - the only one I found that is not on even when the car is off is the cigarette lighter.

I tapped into the cigarette lighter line and got my switched power for an Escort 8500 X50, laser blinder, and a mini USB jack for my PDA. There are two torx screws on either side of the ash tray. With those out the ash tray assembly slides out and you can get to the lighter wires (pay attention to which is positive and which is negative).
