Damm ML won't start ... again
my wife was running out quickly to go pickup the kid from school today... and for the 10th time, the darn ignition would not turn over ok... lets make certain the lights are off, the radio is off.. take out the key and turn ignition again... NOPE didn't work!!! she tried and tried the procedure about 10times before running into the house to yell that the truck wouldn't start!!!
i was about to go in my car, when she tried again, and this time the ML started!!! WTF!!!!
it never fails, when we're in a hurry it seems the truck won't start
what is going on here with the ignition??!!

Check your keychain for other items that may be interfering with the RFID tag in your MB key. My sister was having problems starting her Honda a while back and it turned out that the keycard/badge for her work would interfere with the receiver in the car if placed too close to the ignition switch. Solution was to take the badge off of her keychain.

Take it in to the dealer. Sounds like you are still in warranty. Also there was a recall on the new diesel ML's for the crankshaft sensor that would cause no start issues. The gas versions in the older ML's had a problem like yours and it was also a crank sensor I think. That may be a clue. Good luck!

I had this problem several years ago with a 2000 ML320.
The car would start normally in some locations then wouldn't start in other locations.
Eventually we traced the problem to a loose earth connection (nut not tight) in the electrical compartment just to the right of the accelerator (on a RH drive car).
The locations where the car wouldn't start were on a slope and the earth cable would move and break the connection.
