Guys, Is it true that ....

the '09's won't arrive until November? And that I cannot order an '08 now?

So if I ordered the car I wanted today, I'm looking at 6months +?

Guess who told me that? The dealer who wants to clear his '08 inventory.

My dealer is accepting orders for Sept delivery of 09's as so far as the ML is concerned. However they have no info yet on the 09 E Class which I actually want to order to replace my 05 E. Interesting this is a large dealership and their ML 08 inventory is very thin.

it is true that most new model year cars arrive late Oct and Nov. some dealerships don't like to preorder because then they have to commit to a price, and sometimes the manufactuer changes the msrp on the dealer so then the dealer sometimes takes a loss.

case in point, the fellow who wrote up a contract for a new nissan gtr at msrp for about $78,000. well you can't and won't find a gtr for msrp as most of them are going for $120,000 +

the dealer tried to retract the contract, but the buyer threatened to sue (which he would have won)... .so the dealer sold him the car at msrp.

Is this in the U.S? When you typically put a deposit down on a car you fill out a buyer's order. A buyer's order is not a contract, they do not hold up in court at least in the U.S. Dealer's F around all the time with people who put deposits down early at MSRP for desirable cars but later don't get squat.

To the 09 ML, you'll see them before November. The local dealer already has them on order in Netstar and the 08 builds apparently are just about done at this point.

Has he taken delivery yet? I didn't think the GT-R is out as of this moment. If not, the dealer hasn't delivered on anything. A buyer's order at MSRP is basically worthless and a contract is only usually drafted when you're about to take delivery.

So, I'm not doubting the story it just sounds a bit funny when the car isn't even available yet.

Be very wary of the young lady and that dealer. I live two miles from them; and purchased my ML320CDI from a dealer 45 miles away. I have a friend who purchased there; and has had nothing but trouble with their service many times over. He now goes elsewhere for service, even though it's the closest dealer to him.
