The nice (chrome-looking) key has vanished to my 06 ML500. I still have the somewhat cheaper looking black one. I'm scared to even ask the stealership how much a new one will run!

Hey Red, a friend of mine just had to replace his 230C key and ended up paying about $250 at MB Pompano.

There is one way and one way only to get a new chrome smartkey for your particular car. The FL Dealer.

I can get you NJ keys for $130 all day long. MB corp will not cut a key unless the registration matches the state of request origin, due to fraud protection.

Thanks guys for the responses! I know as soon as I pay the bucks for the new one I'll get up off the sofa and the old one will pop out!

$250 is still a complete rip-off but not as bad as the $400 I was expecting to hear. What happened to the good ol' days of taking your keys to the home depot for copying and paying a couple of bucks!
