to those with the square chrome exhaust tips....especially the 07s and 08s, are your square tips welded to the muffler or is it bolted on round pipe on the base of the muffler?

i just bought a pair of (upgraded part number) square tips and they seem to be designed to be slipped over the round exhaust tube that extends from the muffler since it has
1. a torx screw
2. bigger tube diameter than the tube of the muffler

i remember that earlier models have this tip welded to the muffler.

thanks for the replies, one more question...

how long is the round pipe/tube that extends from the base of the muffler (from which the exhaust tip is screwed on)? i need this info because i have to cut my oval tips from the muffler (oval tips which tapers down into a round tube to the base of the muffler). I have only once chance of cutting them right.

I'll go check and post back, but seems you would want to cut the pipe so that the square tips slip on and look right with your bumper. (i.e. don't want them to stick out past the bumper!)

Ok, I'm back! The pipe extends into the square tip piece, making it a little hard to measure. To the best that I can measure, the round section of pipe that extends from the muffler base is 2.5 to 3 inches long. Besides the torx screw, I also see what looks like a rivet. Hope that helps.
