V6 engines usually sound like crap--I'd leave it as it is. i.e. the quieter the better.
Here you are of course, trying to make the world's most sophisticated diesel engine sound like a Dodge Cummins pickup. No accounting for taste, is there?
Technically speaking, your exhaust is going to continue to have to pass through the cat converter and the particulate filter in order to remain legal and for your car to remain under warranty. Not much "noise" left after that, I imagine.
Whatever you do, "upgrade" won't be the correct description.

I respect your opinions many times, but how about the sound coming from an Infinity FX 35 ?
Can we have something similar with our Ml 350 ?
