how much is my buyout REALLY worth

ok.. lease on the ML500 is up in september.

MBUsa called wanting to know if i want to buy it out or turn it in???

what do u think the ML is worth to them when they go to WHOLESALE the truck?????

the ML has about 40000miles on it, so i'm about 5000 OVER on the mileage.

KBB has a TRADE-IN value of about $23k on a fair condition truck.... should i offer them that or even less???? what would they take

i did this with my last van, and chrysler took it without a blink, so i'm thinking maybe MB might also... anyone with experience with a low-ball buyout??

Best bet is to find some current auction sales sheets. Look up a similar ML and see what it brought then offer them maybe a thousand over that. It would be a good starting point anyway. KBB means very little but the auction sheets are real world wholesale.

Dealers get them a couple of times a week from each auction. If you know a dealer or a person at a dealership, new or used ask to see the latest ones. The biggest around here is Manheim., but try to find a large one in your general area. Then if you find a similar ML you will know exactly what it sold wholesale for.

roughyear,

Current average auction price for a 2006 ML500 with about average miles (38k) is $29,700. Below average condition (56k miles) is about $26,000 and above average condition (18k miles) is $33,300.

Remember that whatever price MB Financial gives you will include the sales tax you have to pay. So, take that out to see where you are compared to auction price.

Hope this helps.

j.
