ML Recall
Got a call from my Dealership today. They left a message saying I should come in for a recall fix but didn't say what it was.
I call back and of course there's no one there.
Any idea what it might be?
Anyone else hear of any recalls on the '06 ML?

Could be the trailer hitch recall. They had faulty welds on some trailer hitches. Mine was redone last week. They remove and completly re-do the hitch welds. Takes about 4-6 hours in the body shop.

If it's truly a recall, you'll get a letter.
If you have gas engine, might be something about serpentine belt as hinted at GL forum.

Front / Rear Brakes Squeal When Braking
Such bs, awhile ago I went to my MB service advisor and complained to him about the squealing coming from the brakes. He brushed it off saying that it was just the humidity...I guess they really didnt care because I am leasing the car from them...

2005 C240 4matic and 2007 ML320 CDI 4matic
If you plan to replace the belt yourself, it is easy. I have a 2007 ML320 and the procedure is the following:
1) Look at the ML owner's manual and it shows the belt path. Page 532.
2) Get a 17mm socket and put it on the automatic belt tensioner. Number 3 in sketch on page 532.
3) Use the 17mm socket to turn the automatic belt tensioner counter clockwise until the belt is loose.
4) Remove the belt.
5) Install the new belt according to the correct path until the belt is on the last pulley (you won't be able to get it around the pulley because the tensioner is at full position).
6) Use the 17mm socket to turn the automatic belt tensioner counter clockwise until the belt has enough slack to go around pulley.
7) Gently release the automatic belt tensioner.
8) Wash your hands.
The entire procedure will be approximately 15-20 minutes for your first time. 10 minutes next time.
I replaced my belt at 80k miles and it was worn with small visible cracks. I'll replace it next time around 70k miles.

Recalls are for safety and emissions issues only.
Belt squeaks and TSBs are simply fixed under warranty.
Only recalls get you a letter.
