First of all it depends on where you live. In NY I'm sorry to say an A service costs around $465. There are plenty of posts on this so just do a search and you'll see. If you live in Jersey, the closer to NYC you are it seems the more you'll pay. Welcome to the overpriced world of Mercedes.

A-Service at 13,000 miles or one year; then every 26,000 miles or two years(1)

Interior
Function check
Check warning and indicator lamps, illumination, and interior lighting
Check windshield wiper, windshield washer system, headlamp cleaning system
Reset maintenance service counter in instrument cluster

Wheels and brakes
Check front brake pads for lining thickness
Check tires for damage and condition
Correct tire inflation pressure
Tire rotation(2)

Engine Compartment
Engine oil and filter change
Fluid level checks of the following:
* Engine cooling system, antifreeze and corrosion protection
* Windshield washer system
* Brake system
Check and correct battery fluid level
Check battery condition using "Midtronics MCR 717" tester (C-Class, CLK-Class, SL-Class)
Check catch, safety catch and hinges on engine hood for proper operation

Trunk
Correct tire inflation pressure in spare tire

Tire Rotation - the First One's on Us

Also don't forget to get your tires rotated. It's a freebee with less than 6500 miles. The recomended rotation is every 6000 miles.

i'll tell u this right now... your tires will be nearly completely worn out in 17-18000miles even after proper rotation schedule... there's $1000 i didn't see coming so soon.

MB of Morristown. they quoted me $ 210.00 for service A, quite a bit for a oil change,, but there is a few little warrenty problems they will handle while it is there. It is a little far for me, but I bought the car there. Globe is closer, but Oh well.

You can take your new ML to any authorized dealer for warranty work - whether you purchased it there or not.

Wait until you have to drain and change the ATF and filter. The dealer I use quoted $495.00. Now, that's a rip off!

2009 ML350 - 2,500mi Service A

My 2009 is displaying Service A in 30 days in the OBC cluster. My car only has 2,500 miles on it. Was purchased in Sept '09, so it would not even have been 1 year old yet... Is this normal??

The service monitor starts counting when it is first activated. I believe that is when it leaves the assembly plant. If yours was shipped last May and it then sat on the dealer's lot until you bought it in September, that would explain why it is telling you Service is required. It is easy enough to reset the indicator, but I am not sure what effect that might have on your warranty. If your dealer is honest, he will tell you to bring it in and have the indicator reset, but without doing anything to the vehicle. If he is dishonest, he will give you a hundred reasons why the oil should be changed because it is a year old blah blah blah, and he will then charge you two or three hundred dollars for 15 minutes of work and $40 worth of oil and filter to replace the pefectly clean oil and filter currently in the vehicle.

You are 100% correct, build date on my car was May 2009. That makes sense now (in a weird way I guess)... That being said, isn't the first recommended oil change at I think 5k miles, so would it be okay to reset the indicator and just perform the Service A at 5k??
