Metric conversion?

I know that I can change the digital speedometer to read km/h on my US '07 ML320. But on my old '05 E320 changing to metric would change everything over (temp, speedometer, odometer). Is there a way via Star Dianostic or something else to make the ML do the same? I'm especially interested in the analog speedometer. Since mph is a light instead of permanently printed on the instrument cluster I'm assuming there must be some way to change it. Anyone know?

Yes it is possible to change all the units to metric (not a/c temperature adjusters). Just ask your dealer's technician to do it, 5 min work with computer. Even the analog speedo is possible to change from 0-160 MPH to 0-160 km/h.

That's weird, I can do it pretty easily within the setup screen in the dashboard. No need for the dealer. I do this quite frequently when travelling between the US and Canada.

Does that add a menu selection so that I can then change it myself? Or is it the case that I would have to go back to the dealer when I wanted to change back?

It's possible to add menu selection:

ask your dealer to activate Menu 04 Einheit wegstrecke (it's mi/km) and Menu 05 Einheit aubentemperatur (it's F / C). It can be done in Variantenkodierung menu of Star Dianostic.

At least I've managed to do this in US R-klasse 2006.
