"Everything is normal" & "They all do that"

This deserves a thread, Just like you guys, I have owned many different kinds of cars over the years always new, and I have taken them back to the dealer for service. Mercedes Benz must have a training course labeled "This is normal" every problem I have ever had, short of the car not starting, is always met with the same statement "this is normal" during the service advisor's second year of training they go to a different class, this one is "They all do that" this statement is even funnier,, just because "They all do that" these SA's think we should accept that stupid answer. OH, well,,, if they all do that then I guess my car is running correctly! I have dealt with many different manufacturers Service Advisors, but as a whole, none beat Mercedes Benz in the "Everything is normal" and the "They all do that " catagory.

I have never gotten this from my SA's. If and when I have a complaint it is taken seriously and fixed, usually the first time. Perhaps its time for you to switch SA's

This thread is bogus until you tell us what car you own and what the problem is.

No. I've got to agree with Philip. My variation I kept getting (maybe it's year 3 of training) is it's "series standard". Best of luck resolving whatever your issues are. It took me 3 years of fighting. (2 issues have subsequently repeated.) Don't give up.

Never had a problem with service advisor. Any issue I have brought up has been taken seriously. I think you need a chat with the service manager.

lkchris, I am sorry, I thought the 2008 ML350 designation was under my screen name, Sosh, Yes I agree with your statement, as a matter of fact, I switched dealerships,, I kind of started this thread because of the comedic value, Lets see, when I picked up the car the trailer hitch light hook up didn’t work, bought it back, after the car staying there all day I was told, my $520 trailer hitch option didn’t include a operating light hook up , “they all come that way” , and it would cost $600. to have the lights functioning, Pretty funny? Needless to say, after two or three trips they got the light hook up to work, I also complained that the car idle was very rough, the reply was “ They all Idle that way” after two return trips, the tech said the mass airflow sensor was out of adjustment it idles smooth now, I also told them the passenger seat bottom squeaks, Once again, the reply was “ I don’t hear anything” so the seat still squeaks , Another trip, the wheel alignment is off, I pay to have it redone, pick up the car, still pulling, bought it back readjusted the steering, now it pulls the other way, I was told “They all pull like that” needless to say, I am bringing the car to another dealership. But once again, I didn’t start this thread to ***** about it, rather I thought the things that some SA’s come up with are pretty funny, Once again, they must go to school to learn these statements.

Factory installed trailer hitch does for sure include trailer wiring connector.

The trailer hitch available at your dealer's parts department comes with it too.

As for aftermarket hitches, the electrics are nearly impossible and the Mercedes electrics are not available separately from the hitch package.

Yes, it's too bad about some dealerships, but proabably at about all of them if you come off appearing to them you think you know more than them, then it's all over for you.
