if mercedes wanted, they could have enabled the feature (which by the way other countries have turned on) and added the same warning message releasing them from liability. and the ones that have it work, its defaulted to only work when the cars in park... but that hasn't stopped people from bypassing that feature making it work when the cars in motion.
and please enlighten me.... what would the insurance company think? that its a distraction? well, unless you've been driving with your eyes closed... there are distractions everywhere all around when you drive. and that includes the radio and hands free talking cell phone use.

I once had a loaner '08 C class with the hard drive Nav unit. In Park, my kids and I sat in the driveway and watched a DVD. Excellent sound with the Harmon K system. Once out of park, the DVD shuts off. The Nav unit also had different map views of the roadway, and could load and store music in the hard drive, and adjusted the volume of a bluetooth call louder than the radio volume knob!!
Now why did they not put this in my 07 ML???
As for yours, give it a shot... Not sure if you could mess anything up. Mine will not play any DVD's. I have tried.
Also I have heard that older units (C,E,S class etc.) could put in a numerical code and it opens the channels for DVD's. Post if you find anything out.
