How to wire trailer lights??

Hi guys, I'm a new ML350. Burgandy and tan 07. I absolutely love this vehicle.
I added a trailer hitch from etrailer. Now I have to wire the lights. I've read thru many posts here and realize it's not as simple as it may seem.
Could anyone give me instructions on how to wire the lights and what I would need to do the job??
Thanks in advance
JZ

Be sure you specify that the "boys" down to UHaul don't cut any wires or use any scotchloks.

Trailer wiring

Haven't tried these, but may be applicable to your situation:

Be aware LED trailer lgihts may trigger an error code without a special cable.

ML320CDI 2008 all options inc air suspension
If you are willing to have it done at the dealer..you should have just had them install the hitch, wiring, and Sam module, then things like the tow haul mode etc will all work as they should and you would have the full 7500lb capacity as well

ML 500
Any update on this issue? I just installed an aftermarket Draw Tite on a 06 ML 500, and for the life of me can not find the pre-wired trailer light wiring. UTFSE and Google have not yielded anything either! Thanks.

If you did not order the vehicle with the hitch option then there are no wires. The rear SAM needs to be replaced and coded for the option and the harness then installed and connected to the rear SAM.

It looks like the trailer wiring as of 2007 are DEALER ONLY applications.
I called the dealer and they would have to order and install the hitch and wires as a package. Didn't ask the cost. Does anyone know what it might cost?
Guess I wasted my time and money installing an aftermarket hitch.

The hitch kit (only way to get the wiring parts, doesn't include the SAM.) is $850 and they want 5 hours to install. Sometime during the 2009 model year they started including the SAM, more pain if you gatta buy it....

This is rape by dealer...

$850 (hitch kit)
$600 labor (5 hours @ $120/hr)
$500 SAM (This is from memory but close)

$1950 = Rape by dealer
