Chrome or Wood Inserts for Window Switch and Mirrors Plate

Has anyone tried the chrome inserts that are available for the window and mirror switches? The "premier" vendor in Germany has them for $115, but there are others domestically available for about $39. I'm wondering if there is any real difference. I'm also interested in opinions from those who have seen or tried them as to how they look installed.

Similarly, has anyone tried wood inserts? If so, how do they look and where are they available (without having to buy a whole interior kit)?

Thanks in advance for any and all responses.

I have the cheap ones and was never thrilled with how they look. They are not flush like the OEM covers as they sit on top of them, so they look odd--much like those cheesy wood appliques.

I also have the chrome fog light and hood air vents covers. Now, those are AWESOME!!!!

I'm attaching pics of everything so you can take a look at them.

Thanks for the posting. I have heard from some who love the switch trim, though, so now I am torn, although I fully agree that most stick on wood kits look tacky.

As to the hood vent chrome, I have seen some for $100, and others for $39. Can you share where you bought yours and for how much?

The fog light trim, by the way, is a definite YES.

Hey guys, I bought my stuff at www.myroadster.net

Here are some thoughts:

- Be VERY careful with the hood vent covers. They come without instruction... Each of them is marked where it goes (something like L1 for Left 1). Make sure you put them in the right place as they are not the same size.

- My fog lights didn't come with enough double sided tape, so I added some of my own.

Enjoy. Specially the fog light covers. They really make the truck look amazing. They are the perfect finishing touch!

Chorme Stuff

B:

Thanks for the response. I have heard that the vent trim is numbered. Am I correct that L1 is driver's side, far left? And did you use any water/soap to facilitate installation?

Also, how are is your fog light trim holding up? Any pitting?

I don't remember the numbering... I just remember they are numbered. You don't use soap, they get glued over the black ones.

Fog lights definitely pitted. But, it's only noticeable if you're paying attention. Otherwise, you'd never notice it.

ML Chrome

Baxter:

Givent the double sided tape, how did you position the chrome "wings" over the black plastic?

Also, is your fog lamp trim metal or ABS plastic? Any issues with keeping either the wings or the fog lamp trim in place?

From 2006 ML 320 CDI - from 2009 Audi Q5 S-Line 3.0 TDI DSG - from 2011 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE
I have the fog lamps chrome trim, they are plastic covered with chrome but they are very well produced and resist to all. The car has changed a lot in the front just buy adding this too small accesories. Very very nice indeed.

The air trim - I took them but then I changed my mind - as they were a little bit too much for the ML look - the car looked like some gipsy automobile.....

The chrome trim for the interior in the door window commands looks interesting - I will check and add this too...

P.S. My MB ML 320 CDI is older already, 95000 km done from November 2006 until today. I am thinking to pass to a lower, more city friend category and much more economic in fuel consumption, a bit more sportive and direct in driving - the brand new Audi Q5 3.0 TDI.....I am very close to that decision although my ML served me perfectly and reliably.....

They look good, but a bit expensive at $50 plus $15 shipping from Hong Kong (eBay quoted)

lol they're all overpriced, even the regular ones at $30 shipped. or the genuine MB door cups for $80. they're all just chrome plastic, costs like $1 in materials.

my rings never arrived and i just got a refund today. i almost wish i hadn't, now i have to pick between the two

*** just decided against it. i think it looks a little too busy, and i want to keep things subtle. re-ordered the plain rings
