Prices on new ML

We found several '09's here on the West Coast for $5K under the dealer invoice. Unfortunately, none had the Premium 2 Pkg or the other options we are looking for in the car so we we not interested. We're placing a special order on a 2010 and paying $600 over dealer invoice, I forget how much that was under MSRP. We never pay attention to the MSRP, we just focus on working a deal from the dealer invoice. Anyway, if you're flexible on the options and color you can probably dig up some good deals.

does the dealer invoice ever change?.....i thought the MSRP was a fixed target and never changes, and the invoice was a moving target? I dont care about options....it will be a company car. Thx for the feedback.

Both are fixed (but negotiable) numbers. You should know both figures. Once you know the dealer invoice you can find out if the dealer will get any MORE reductions on that invoice, kick backs and incentives from the manufacturer, etc. Obviously this is the case on the '09's. I'm no genius on this but bottom line you can simply ask to see the invoice on any vehicle you're interested in.
If you build a 2009 on Edmunds, it shows three figures, the MSRP, the Dealer Invoice and finally what others in your area are actually paying. This is how you can confirm that the 2009's are going for well under invoice. That said, inventory of the '09's isn't what it was last month, so you'll need to factor that in as well.
Simply do a search for a '09 on an internet site like Edmunds or Cars.com or whatever. You can find local inventory that way.
