Help me choose a color.....

Our local dealer isn't able to locate a ML with the options we want so we've got an appt to write up an order on Monday.

I've chosen two color combos but I can't decide which to order. My husband says that one of these combos will have a better resale value down the line and to choose that one. Along that same line, our salesman say's "buy any Mercedes ML as long as it's black, silver or white" LOL

My first choice is Baloro Red w/Cashmere Leather interior. That was until we saw a Steel Grey Metallic at the dealership where we are vacationing. I would chose the Ash Leather w/the Steel Grey exterior. I don't want a black interior, our primary home is located where the summer's are quite warm. have not yet seen the Ash Grey in person but there are plenty of pics online;.

I can tell my husband favors the Steel Grey Metallic but he wants me to choose since it will primarily be my car.

So, any input from fellow ML'ers would be helpul. If you were to find both these color combos on the new or resale market, which would YOU choose?

I just took delivery of a new 2010 ML550 that is Steel Gray and has the black leather interior. I traded an 06 ML500 that had an Alpine Rain color with the Cashmere Interior. I do not care for the Gray Interior and I had one in a 2001 E320. My take is that it looks old and worn in a short time. The cashmere is really too light and the black shows every spec of dust. There is no perfect interior and MB only offers 3 colors. If it means anything to you the Ash gray is the least popular and you rarely see one in dealer inventory. I do which they offered a darker cashmere or chesnut. Good luck you will love the ML, I am on my 4th one.

Thanks for the reply. From online photos, the Ash interior looks even lighter than the Cashmere. Perhaps the Ash carpets are darker? At any rate, I'm not worried about the interior being too light. We don't have small children and I'm neat freak maintaining a spotless interior won't be an issue. It's evident that black is the most popular choice, it's sporty, but it's just not for me.

Anyway, your Steel Grey is gorgeous, the color has depth and it's downright good looking MUCH better in person than online.

Decisions, decisions But I'm leaning towards the Barolo Red w/cashmere interior. Screw resale value.

Yes the red and cashmere is a great combination and was one of the possibilities for me, however I also have a red car (black interior) that I rarely drive as its 44 years old. I also have a new E Class on order that will be the Tenorite Gray (think thats what they call it) and Cashmere. Its betwen the lighter Silver and the Steel Gray. Colors are a very personal choice and I am certain you will enjoy what you get. As far as options are concerned consider getting Airmatic and Xenon light package. They make the ML much improved as so far as ride and night driving.

forget about resale, and just buy what you will like and enjoy first and foremost

baloro red w/ cashmere would be my choice over the steel gray. but if you had to do steel gray, go with the black interior. ash looks really outdated, boring and will show dirt the fastest... especially on the steering wheel.

steel gray will be a dime a dozen soon enough, but with baloro red you will be rare and unique

Around here barlo Red and cashmere is a dime a dozen many in the small MB SUV. Black, White and silver are more than a dime a dozen, almost like taxis. With every ML I have owned that was not black and was a new color I have been told by someone that they will be a dime a dozen. Never has this come true. There certainly will be more Steel grays but there will never be more than the blacks, whites or silvers. I would say eventually there may be the same number as any other new color.

Thanks again everyone for the input.

The ML was ordered in red w/cashmere interior. An appropriately loaded 'chic' car, LOL. My husband now wants to replace his knock around town car with a little GLK, arent' they CUTE!!!

Great forum BTW

Nice choice!! You will love it! Did you get Airmatic and Xenons?? Not so sure re the GLK. I am not sold on the looks and size. My feelings are with the ML an E Class makes a nice stable mate.
