Inadvertant owner

Hi there, New to the forum, as I now own an ML350.... well at least my wife owns one.
We were looking for a replacement SUV. The lass got all fired up about the value for money this vehicle represents.......sigh. Some wall st journal article, anyway she was watching an auction with no reserve and I thought to be nice since it appeared to be low that she could put a bid in $100 higher in the last 5-6 minutes. Bugger me -- WE WON . so we now have a '06 with 27k miles on it.
QUESTION:
Are there any sites you recommend for accessories - like floor mats?
QUESTION:
Can this forum supply suitable info on potential issues and preventative maintenance? I'm a member on bimmerforums for my 850 and its a great source of help -- I assume this is similar?
Cheers
Hip.

Floor mats: WeatherTech. They sell online and through dealers. The Mercedes branded floor mats are made by WeatherTech, too.

There have been a zillion posts about various aspects of maintenance. Use the Search function as necessary. There have been almost as many posts about issues; do the same thing. If you change your own oil, you'll need an extractor pump that uses the dipstick tube, otherwise it is straighforward. Use only Mercedes approved oils. Brakes are simple and straighforward. Transmission flush and change is essential every 40,000 miles or so but is not an easy DIY. As with most modern vehicles, "maintenance" mostly means checking things.

Good luck with the ML!

Thanks

Roadrutz,
Thanks for the quick response. I will head off and search for what I need.
I'm glad to hear there are no major drawbacks with the vehicle in general.

The mats tip is MUCH appreciated.

Issue: Since yours is a 2006, check if the transmission is jerky when going from 2nd to 1st gear, for instance when rolling to a stop at a stop sign or in slow moving traffic. This can mostly be corrected with a software update in case your car needs it or with a valve body replacement.

Now, if you find this issue, I URGE you to run to the dealer ASAP and get a free fix

Keep us posted and enjoy the ML

Might want to make an appointment with a local MB dealer as soon as possible to have the car checked out while its still under warranty. MB's come with a four year 50k mile warranty and depending on the original purchase date (06's could have been purchased in 05) the factory warranty will be ending soon. They will take care of all service bulletins and fix any problems that you may have free of charge. Congrats on the ML.
