New member - Bluetooth question

Hi all. I'm a new member here - noob

Anyway, my wife has a 2006 ML500 with Nav, power rear gate, etc. Her car did not come with the bluetooth module.

I searched the forum and found lots of info for 350s but nothing specific on the 500. Can I add the MB bluetooth module? If so, what do I need to buy?

Thanks!

M5Express

You absolutely can add a bluetooth module to your vehicle. They are available through your dealer or you can find one online. it is a motorola bluetooth puck and it installs in the center console of your truck.

Thanks Doc. I was looking on ebay and I found the piece that goes in the center console. It mentioned that I still needed another piece (module?) and it had to be programmed by the dealer. Is that correct?

you do not need to do anything other than install it and follow the directions to sync your phones with it. the dealer does not have to do anything.

This photo explains it all.

If you don't have the connector, you have lots more to do.

There are two different firmware versions of the Bluetooth puck, an early and a late version. Be sure you get the later version, especially if you buy one on ebay or the like. The module is manufactured by Piker and the early firmware is a disaster unless you use it with certain Motorola phones. The MB part numbers for each are floating around on this board somewhere (try Audio & Electronics).
