How do you remove headlight bulbs in 2008 ML350???

How do you remove headlight bulbs in 2008 ML350???
I followed the instructions from the manual. I was able to remove the black cover by turning it counter-clockwise, but now I can not budge the bulb from the housing.
I turned it counter-clockwise, as per the manual, and also tried clockwise, to no avail. Do I need to turn harder, or is there a clip I need to remove first? Any advice would be helpful. Thank you.

The drivers side is a little tougher to reach but you just grab it at the base of the bulb harness and twist counter clockwise.....the key is the metal ring, it is very specific to which side is up when re-installing.

Well, i received the bulbs i ordered and was finally able to install them. I had to turn the bulb and harness 'hard' counterclockwise and it came out.
Thank you for the info on how to do this procedure. If not for the help.... i may of taken a screwdriver to it..lol.
