ML 350
Bearing and Transmission

Hi , I'm new here. I have a 2006 ML 350. It has 60k miles on it. I've been told by my local mechanic I have to change my bearings. Each time I drive I feel like the car is heavy and not as smooth, like something is dragging it down. If I drive fast it vibrates. Does this mean it's the bearings? Can the bearings for the back be used for the front, I'm asking because the store has only that in stock. And do I need to change the transmission fluid?

Thanks.

The trans fluid most definitely needs to be changed if it is original.
My 08 is recommended at 39k and no more after that.
I just recently "puked" a front right wheel bearing after a long trip and the only thing that made it stand out is that it made a "wirrrring" noise at 40 MPH and up. No vibration and grinding noises.
I would investigate the tire wear in regards to the vibration. Worn tires that have not been balanced in a while or a vehicle out of alignment with older tires can certainly cause odd vibrations.
I would consult the parts dept at a M/B dealership in reference to front and rear bearings being interchangeable. I was quoted 800.00 for 1 bearing if it was out of warranty. Not a cheap repair to gamble with.
