Ml500
Red face ML500 Ball Joints

First off I want to say that I have just crossed over to MB from VW. I am no stranger to ball joints, tie rods, wheel bearing or the timing belt in my TDI.

But this is what I want to ask, The 2004 ml 500 I just bought needs one front and one rear lower ball joint. Is this anything different than my VW or a chev/ford/dodge lower ball joint? I will have no problem getting the nut off or the joint out of the taper but does MB use a pressed joint, threaded or a bolted(rivited) lower joint? Any super special tools? Have a pic so I can make them? I have a lathe, press, mill, mig and other goodies in the shop.

Are there any real good service manuals out there?
VW has the vag-com diagnostic tool, what does MB have?

Thanks for any help in advance,

Ben
