Update NAV

I recently drove a 2010 C class and noticed the new NAV system is alot more user friendly than the one in my 2006. Is it possible to upgrade to this sytem by purchasing a new DVD or would I have to replace the entire system?

I'm afraid I already know the answer but just figured I'd ask anyhow and hope for a pleasant surprise. Thanks

Replace the system. I purchased the latest DVD in hopes of the same, but it only updated the software and maps, not the look or function.

That's what I was afraid of

Thanks for the heads up.

I wonder what the cost would be to replace?

If you have the cd changer in the glove compartment as i do, things get a bit more complicated. The new ones from 09 on have a built in dvd changer which likely ...although not positive... needs a different wiring harness and then of course you have to deal with the changer in the g/c. I love my 08 ML and my warranty runs out in another yr and at that time i am faced with either trading in or buying an extended warranty and upgrading the comand...both of which will likely be min 6 grand...which is a good chunk of the upgrade to a new ML...What I am hoping for is a GLK to have a diesel by that time and solve my dilema lol

Not only the system, you'll need a new head unit AND the whole wiring harness, especially the optic loop.
From MY 2009, the MLs use different kind of head unit although they look similar. The new ones are NTG 2.5 systems use hard drive for navi infos, not DVD.
My two cents
