burning oil

I got message about low level oil (second in 3-4 months). The very first time I thought that technican didn't put enough oil when I did my mainitanance and I put up to max level. After ~5,000 km (~4,000 mi), my level is close to minimum. I cannot notice any oil leak (I see some wet spots on turbo) but nothing major.

The car is still under warranty (3,000 km left) and I'd like get it fix it under warranty or get rid of car, if it's going make me a problem on long run.

Do you know what it should be checked or possible problem ...?

Alex

I have read in the diesel threads that the CDIs burn WAY more oil than gassers....I have a gasser so I have no experience with a CDI. I can say that my 2008 ML350 oil level never moves during my 10k oil change intervals.

I used to have R320 CDI (same engine) and my oil level never have been issue. I think something wrong with head gasket or ...

Usually, it should burn ~ 1 l for 15,000 km interval and I am losing 1.5 lit for 5,000 km ...

I have 3,000 km left on warranty and I need fix it ...

Best thing to do if youre concerned is take it to the dealer and get it in the system before your warranty runs out. If it takes them some time to track it down at least you wont be paying for it.

I did ...They are going change oil and check oil level after ~ 1000 km ..I think it's just waste of time due to I don't think I can burn ~1.5 lit for 5,000 km ..it's too much for non leaking engine ...

I'll keep you updated ....

As long as they have logged a complaint about excessive oil usage before the warranty expires, it will be covered even if they have to wait to track it down past the mileage/time limit. Now you will just have to wait for it to play out.

Munze konza - I think it's problem to intake turbo seal and it was replaced under warranty. Now, I am waiting for another 1,000 km or so to see if the problem is solved or not ...If not, the warranty is still present ...
