Need new tires
Im looking for new tires for my 09 ml550. Been reading posts on here but alot of people have tires rated for snow also. It only snows one or two times a year here so Im just looking for a tire that is good for rain. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

2014 ML350 BlueTec.
l'm sorry.............
l misread your thread..l have dedicated summer and winter tires, and don't own all-season tires......l will let the owners of all-season tires answer this one...though Michelin does make a good all-seaon tire.......

I am on my second set of Michelin Latitude Tour HPs on my ML500. I find them to be a good all around tire. Road noise is low, rain traction good. I drive them in the snow with no problem, but the tread pattern suggests they would not be great in deep snow. tire life seems to be good.

I recently put new all season rubber on my wife's '08 ML550.
I always have used Michelin in the past, but this time went with the Continental Extreme Contact DWS.
They rate as being decent snow, very good wet, and very good dry.
I feel they are much nicer tires than the factory supplied rubber.
The independent shop i bought them from told me not to expect them to be much of a snow tire after 10K miles or so, but I figure to get decent winter performance at least this year & next.
Tire Rack has no stock, but good reference info here:

try Nokians if you can find them. Works well for me, and so far on its way to lasting twice as long as the factory.

I mounted those tires on my C240. Good grip but lazy turn-in, very luxurious ride, need some extra tire pressure. Great in the wet, among the worst I have driven on snow and ice.
It's an all-season tire, just like they claim - but plan on parking them on those tow or three snow days, IMHO.

Have an 09 ML350 4Matic. This Fall I went with 4 all season Continental Extream Contacts DSW. I ordered the car with 19" tires and wanted to get Cooper's as I ran them on my previous ML but Cooper does not make the tire I wanted in 19". The Continentals are Great tires. I live in Upstate NY so am driving in snow 4 months out of the year. So far no problems. I am a spirited driver and the tires grip and hold the road very well.

But I felt helpless with the DWS on Colorado snow-packed roads with the DWS's on my RWD C Class. I mean - I got around just fine, but I was always hoping nothing unexpected would happen in front of me.
I think that different tires are suited for different kinds of snow. For instance, I have some Hakkapeliitta CS, which are highly regarded but I thought they were junk until I took them back east and found them to be terrific. Back here, I just don't take them out in our snow / black ice.
I also wonder how much the 4Matic hides tire deficiencies.
I am now running Pirelli 19" Scorpion Snow & Ice on my ML and like them a lot. Still fun to drive in the dry with 33F/35R pressure.

I Just purchased some Yokohama all seasons from discount tire. If you have the 19 inch tire option on your ML550 you will find tire prices are pretty high for 19s. I got mine from discount tire shipped to me for $175 each. The continentals that came OE wore out in about 20,000 miles which did not impress me. The Yokohamas I have had in the past on other vehicles have always worn well. Generally I prefer Michelin tires but they were over $120 more per tire.

I also have Michelins and they are excellent. On a different topic, Rauhbatz, I noticed you have a 1991 190E 2.3 ! I bought one new back in the day (1991) and kept it for 15 years! Great car. I decided to sell it when I was buying a house in 2006, and at that point it was no longer my daily driver and I thought I could use the few thousand bucks it would fetch! I sold it for $3200. It had 128K miles and was well kept.

190s are great
Hi aggst...we bought one in 1991 brand new as well; had it delivered from Chicago as it had the special metallic black paint (not enamel) and black interior.
After 209K miles I drive it to/from the airport each week when I travel; 4 cyl economy, big car feel. And it was paid off over a decade ago. I change the oil every 2k miles just to be safe.
I'll keep driving it till it drops; can't justify getting a new set of wheels just to sit in the airport garage...

I had several myself. I had a 190E 2.0 with a AMG body kit and 3 different 190E 16v. The 16v were a blast to drive back then.
