2011 DIESEL ML
Got my ML

After much deliberation I got my 2011 ML350 BlueTec. I live in Canada so I went with the ubiquitous Avante Garde package. Seems like running boards and the trailer hitch also come with as the clear out the parts bins in Alabama. I doubt I will ever use the hitch, but I like the look of the Boards. I ordered 20" rims but it came with 19's so I have to make the swap next week. Also ordered the tray mats, which also were on back order.

The sales process went well, I returned a 2008 C-350 that I loved. I sort of miss the car, but the SUV better suits my lifestyle and needs right now. Amazingly, the same commute (home-school-very busy highway-work) consumes about 11litres/100k in the ML and used about 15l/100 in the C.

So far, I really like the power, obviously the fuel economy and big...but not too big feeling of the truck. The dated command system is a bit if a wash as I wasn't that big a fan of the silver wheel in the C. The NAV systems shows way more streets than the C (The C had to be zoomed to the highest level to see any street names). Although the 4 way requires some eye time off the road, it is a lot more intuitive than the wheel (at least to me). The standard stereo is about as good as the HK in the C. Heated steering wheel is a treat, seats are comfy, etc.

I really would like a cargo organizer for the back. LLBean sells and ugly drawer system that locks. Has anyone seen anything like this?

So far in about 70% urban driving I have used gone about 300k on 1/3 a tank. My co-worker is on his 3rd tank of gas in his new RR Sport Supercharged in a week.

If you plan on keeping the truck may I suggest you buy the complete weathertech mat system , it works great keeping salt and dirt off the carpets.

And the piece for the cargo bay.

OP: I think Mercedes lists some kind of organizer for the cargo area, but you'd have to verify that with your dealer. If so, it is bound to be $$$. I bought a couple of collapsible plastic baskets from Canadian Tire for $10 each. Folded flat, they lock together and are only 2-inches high. Opened up, they are good for grocery bags and anything else that rolls around back there. I wish I had discovered them years ago.

I got the 38" ROLA Cargo Organizer:

It fits perfectly. My wife has had one in her C350 since new.

Shop around - I found it on Amazon for about $67.00.
