New 2008 ML550 Owner
Hi all, I have been stalking this site while I researched SUVs and have decided to pick up a certified 2008 ML550 tomorrow. I think I landed a pretty sweet deal. Now, I am sure I am going to have a ton of questions/requests, so let me start with the first few.
- Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the rear view mirror so I can hardwire a radar detector to it? (http://www.invisicord.com/)
- Can anyone send me the digital version of the 2008 ML550 brochure?
- Where is the best (cheapest) place to get the latest DVD for the navigation?
Thanks in advance for your help, I'm looking forward to participating in this community.

The nav cd is all I can help with.... you can find your ML in the drop down menus and order direct. Its not ''cheap'' but cheaper than the dealer. They release a new version every yr, and the last one is already several months old, the next should be out in mid to late fall.

I bought a CPO'd '08 ML550 about one month ago, and it still had the navigation disc in it from the time when the vehicle sold new. I asked the dealer to throw in the current version of the nav disc once we'd agreed on price. They did it; I had a positive dealership experience. So before closing your deal, ask for them to install the current nav disc. I'll be surprised if they refuse.

So I just took delivery today and am loving the ML550. I found out that apparently part of the CPO process is to install the latest NAV disc. So that was not an issue (I still have to verify that it is the latest version in there).
The other points though, I am hoping someone around here can help me with.

@GateKeeper I checked and my disc is the original one from 2008. I am still talking with them to see if they are going to get me the latest one. I don't know if I really care to fight too hard for it.
@medic I got what I think is a killer deal. I got a CPO 2008 ML550 with 27K miles for about $39K + tax. They also had the 1.99% APR. I am happy with the deal. I think it was over $5K below KBB value. It's a good time to buy a V8. Which is good since you will think about the great deal you got every time you fill up at the pump - 13mpg

I got mine last month, 08, 550 with Pkg2, tow, changer, ipod, wood steering, leather, keyless go and some other stuff for $35k + tax. 27k miles as well, but not CPO. No haggling, it was the internet posted price. I think they had it on the lot for at least 4 months though.

I currently drive an Infiniti FX45 which is fast and very sporty, so I am afraid getting the ML that it may be a bit less tight and sporty. And the FX has been problem-free for over 7 years... Ah, them Japanese...

If you're used to having the additional space of the FX45, you'll miss it if you go back into a sedan (E550). The ML550 seems like the perfect blend of power, size, style, utility, functionality, and power - did I already say that? It's a really a freakin' rocket without the problems of the ML63. Plus, I managed just under 20mpg on the highway driven it home after I picked it up. We've enjoyed it for about two months now, and have yet to find fault with it. You simply can't go wrong with a CPO ML550 accompanied by the purchase of a MB extended warranty. 7 yr. / 135K miles. Mine was about $38K plus the cost of the max warranty extension (which I know will easily pay for itself multiple times over as the vehicle ages). Good luck with your decision.
