New (to me) 06 ML500 22" Wheel Question

After shopping around for quite some time, found a peach of a deal. 2006 ML500 in Pewter with 28000 miles. EVERY option except chrome wheels and towing package (stickered for $61000). It feels and looks brand new.

So with that said, looking to upgrade wheels. For those of you that have gone 22", why do most places recommend 285/35 when the 285/30 is a closer match to stock rolling diameter? Thanks in advance.

just a guess, but maybe the extra sidewall height provides a marginally smoother ride.

More wheel protection too.

But why only 285 width tire? That's narrowier than the ML63's oem tires. Why not 295 or 305?

Yes, LOL. I did the calculator and the 285/30 is a closer fit than the 285/35. Ill have to try again and see if a 295/30 is even closer.

I hope you didnt pay 61k for a used ML500, 22's is going to ruin the smooth ride. If you must go big get 20's, that wont make it that bad.
