Hi,

I own a ML320CDI and there is an annoying rattle noise coming from the central portion of the dash. It seems to come from the section where the hash tray and the small drawer are. Someone can quickly guide me on central dash disassembly?

Try wedging a couple of pieces of firm rubber such as from a rubber floor mat into the long gaps on either side where the center of the dash sits atop the console.

I can only get you one step deep - maybe others can help from there.

Open the ash tray/lighter drawer.
Lift out the ash tray and remove the lighter.
Remove the T-20 screw on each side of the assembly.
Pull the assembly foward, up and out.
Disconnect the electrical connector from the bottom of the assembly.

If you mean the section below the COMAND with the aircon controls, then it has 2 clips at the bottom edge on left and right. You open the ashtray below it, and put your fingers up against the bottom edge of the panel above in the corners, and push upwards (thus pushing the clips inward a mm or two) and pull the panel forward and it uncips. It then hooks out from under the COMAND
