Heated Steering Wheel and Cold Mornings

My heated steering wheel has decided not to work in the cold mornings. When parked outside overnight the feature will work for about a minute then shut itself off. This continues throughout my 1 hour morning commute.
In the evening when I retrieve the car from indoor parking lot, the heated wheel works just fine. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Never had the problem, but you may want to check the electrical connections in the steering wheel. Remove the two torx screws on the leading edge of the wheel. They hold the airbag in place. (Do NOT disconnect any airbag electrical connections or a fault code will be thrown and you'll have to have the dealer reset it.) But you should be able to figure out which wires are for the heater and check their connection.

Five minute job.

If that doesn't work, get the dealer to fix the problem under warranty.

May just have the dealer check it out under warranty.

The heated wheel system uses several inputs to determine the "on" time. I have had mine turn off early (in my mind), or stay on for 45 minutes. Not sure what the parameters are, but check the manual. I think even electrical overload will shut it off, so if your heater is on high, the seat heat on high, defrost on high and RPM's at idle, it may load shed the steering heat to save the system?
