2009 ML550 dust filters question
I had a question about the dust filters and their replacement. I have not looked into changing mine yet, but I would like to. I saw a "famous" youtube video that has a mechanic working on a ML350 but it stops before him actually being able to replace those filters behind the glove box.
My questions:
- Can those 2 filters be replaced from the engine bay in a 2009 ML550? I would not feel comfortable working through the glove box from inside the car
- Is that simple enough to do from the engine bay? I saw another post from 2010 here that says that you can see them from the engine bay after you unscrew a couple of clips, but they cannot be actually replaced from there...

Takes about 5 minutes max to remove air intake box in engine compartment (unhook two clips at top, lift box away from firewall and up), remove old filters, position new filters (pay attention to air flow indicators on filters - arrow points down), and clip airbox back into place. Maybe the easiest little maintenance job ever on a ML550.

Mann supplies MB with its air filters. The Mann part number for the air filter is C3698/3-2 (set of 2). I just picked up a set of these myself and will be installing them this weekend. And FWIW, the Mann cabin air filter part number is CUK2646-2 (set of 2). I bought mine from Autohauz AZ, but there's lots of inexpensive sellers on eBay as well.
