ML450 - 2000 Where does the power steering fluid go?
I have a whining noise coming from my 2000 ML450. It seems like it is when I turn the wheels. I think my power steering fluid may be low, and want to check the level. I cannot find the schematic to locate the dip stick in my owner's manual. Can anyone please tell me specifically where to look under the hood to find the power steering resevoir. Many thanks!!

If you have a 2000 ML450, then I believe you should be on the W163 page.
Regardless, primatives has correctly indicated the power steering reservoir location for the W164 diesel.
The noise you describe is the same as I experienced in the ML350CDI, which was quickly diagnosed by the dealer over the phone as a leak in the steering rack, even though I had not had any oil on the garage floor.
The dealer was only too happy to replace the steering rack under warranty.
I have also discovered this conversation on the X164 GL page. https://mbworld.org/forums/gl-class-...ks-07-09s.html
