Question Want to buy 07 ML350. Advice/Suggestions Needed Please

Hello!

I'm looking at purchasing an ML350 and wanted any tips/suggestions/advice/warnings you could give me as I prepare to pull the trigger on one.

Anything I need to be aware of other than that engine issue I've read about? Also, is MB USA fixing that issue under a recall? Or would that be out of pocket expense?

I've found an 07 ML350 with 87k miles priced at $20,995. It appears to be in excellent condition on the outside and very good on inside as well. IS this a good price for an ML with this kind of mileage?

Also, do these 6 cylinder engines have timing chains or timing belts?

OH I also wanted to add that I currently have a BMW and an Audi so I'm no stranger to German engineering.

thanks.

I am not a believer of the crazy options that are coming on the new cars today.
Back in the days, AMG used to stand for what the badge stands for, now things are getting ridiculous with the names and such.

When you read 63 on the tag, you think it is a V12 engine, but get disappointed to know it is a V8 Turbo one.
The 300 and 350 engines are basically the same in displacement, the difference is the ECU which is remapped by Mercedes. Hope they don't continue with such ridiculous tags.

If you want an honest opinion about the US Specs SL, I would tell you don't buy one. ALL of its engines now are Turbocharged, which means more headaches and mechanical costs related to it.
In my part of the world, I was lucky to score a low mileage 2013 SL350, the only R231 which comes without Turbos. It is damn fast too, and enough for a convertible (not gonna race it). No AMG kit, the way I like this styling, bugeye headlights resembling the 60's Pagoda (I have a 1967 too), no hydraulic trunk but with hydraulic door locks (wish they were not available).

I enjoy driving it twice a month, but my daily driver is a 2004 Jeep Grand Overland which I use everywhere even while commuting in throughout the GCC area.
