Facelift 2007 ML 320 CDI to 2009

Hi,

I'd like to ask a newbie question. I've bought 2007 ML320CDI and would like to upgrade front (including headlight, bumper, hood, grille etc.) to look like 2009 facelift version. Is this possible both on hardware and software?

Thanks,

It is possible... but it's not an easy venture to take on. You'll need to have in-depth knowledge about how everything's plugged together.

Bumpers, headlamps, LED-taillights etc. are an easy fit, but making it all work is a totally different story. You'll need a different rear SAM to make the OEM LED taillights work, the Xenon headlamps and the rear mirrors have a different wiring (different plugs) etc. You'll also need someone who can help you with the Star Diagnostics system to re-program the stuff you put in... and so on and so on.

You'll get most of the stuff you need on Ebay... everything else needs to be purchased through MB (obviously).

Thanks Sharkster. Indeed my car has front damage, so i need to change headlamps and bumper already. I'm just concerned of front wiring and Star Diagnostics re-programming parts. Do you recommend any detailed resource that i can read about wiring and re-programming. By the way, I don't tend to do this as DIY, I'll definitely do that with a professional service.

I've been going through the whole process in 2011 with my 2007 ML 350:
https://mbworld.org/forums/m-class-w...s-springs.html

Did the full package (inside/outside): new COMAND headunit (incl. linguatronic and bluetooth telephony/connectivity), new nappa leather steering wheel, ML63 exterior package, new wheels, BRABUS springs, Xenon upgrade, 2011 AMG hood and so on. I even put in some designo specials like an anthracite alcantara headlining... However, the whole built was a long, expensive and sometimes tedious task.

But even if you don't do it as a DIY project (I didn't neither), you'll need to consult a lot of experts. I found them in German car forums... I also found some guy who is an expert with the Star Diag who came by and who was a great help when setting everything up sofwareside. I guess your best bet is to find some Star Diag experts here at MB-World, but do not limit your search to the ML forums.

I bought most of the parts on Ebay or at MB's official second hand parts online shop (http://www.mbgtc.de/). Without getting the parts somewhere cheaper the whole "upgrade" is just way too expensive. Sometimes I also had to wait patiently for a special item to pop up on Ebay... So, takinig on this venture without being in a hurry is a big advantage.

Good luck!

Hello Sharkster,

I am newbi here, and I just bought an ML63 AMG of 2007 that the previous owner had upgraded to outside facelift (xenon, bumpers, leds etc). This job completed in one of the authorized MB resellers here in Athens and the car looks great. So, everything is working and pass through Star without warnings exempt the automatic leveling of the xenon headlights (Up/down/left/right). As far as I searched, this happens because the new (after facelift) headlights uses different coding for this auto-leveling. Can you please help me where can I find an expert to help me?

Thanks for your time

Hello all,

Finally I found the solution to have headlights auto-leveling working after retrofit facelift. The solution came from a friend of mine Mr. John Mirmiroglou who is a Certificate Diagnostic Technician (CDT) in EKKA Company an official Mercedes Benz Dealer here in Athens. For more information regarding this modification you can contact him directly at: jonmi5 (at) yahoo.gr
Once again, thanks for all and especially to my friend John who succeeded in this bloody story!!!
