Angry Please Help - W164 ML320 cdi

Hi All,
I recently purchased a ML320 CDI WI64 2006 .

Whilst driving it home from sellers the entire Instrument Panel will Flash off then back on (approx. 2 seconds) and this "Power Cut" also sent the analogue clock into a reverse spin until it has reset itself back to the correct time .

The Brake warning then appears on the LCD message screen and all my other digital settings are reset - ie - Air Pressure Indicator needs to be reset and everything else goes back to default - I think?

The Headlights however remain on (and don't flash) and the car continues to drive ok and the stereo / sat nav all remains on.

I have had the car now for about a Month and this problem occurs when I use the Indicator to turn either left and or right.

I have been advised that I need to purchase an New Instrument cluster via my local dealer as the specific part is unavailable which will cost me over $3500 -

Please can anyone tell me if they have had a similar experience or know what may be causing this or if there has been a recall etc

I am worried about driving my daughter around as I am unsure if its dangerous

First, check all fuses (trunk, right side of the dash and engine compartment) and second, check for loose ground wires. Also, if you know how to access the battery, check for loose positive (red +) cable. Do not disconnect the battery with the key in the ignition. It could be a defective turn signal switch also.
Good luck

Ok I checked all the fuses and they are all ok. I then contacted dealership and asked if they had tested the indicator switch as this was the common denominator (or at least that's my hunch) to the problem.

They said that the Star Computer detects almost everything but can not identify issues such as a faulty "indicator switch" - so they have advised they will replace this part for $1000.00 .

I suggested that they should perhaps see the car again in order to ascertain that the Indicator Switch was in fact the cause of the problem as I would not want to spend $1000.00 only to find that it was not - So Car goes in again on the 14th April - fingers crossed .

Btw does $1000.00 sound right or OTT ??
