Question about DVD Nav
The Nav system on my 06 ML 350 went TU. I've seen some videos on removing the whole head from the dash, and that doesn't look too bad. I found someone on ebay who repairs the Nav DVD processor. How hard is it to remove the Nav processor from the head? I'm hoping I don't have to disconnect the radio, since I don't have the code to reset it.

I tried another NAV DVD in the slot and the drive would not read it. I think I have to replace the NAV processor.
Can I replace the NAV drive without disconnecting the COMAND unit? My thinking is that the car would be turned off with no key in the ignition. I am trying to avoid having to put in a code for the radio. I think there is a 12v supply to the COMAND unit at all times, since with the vehicle off, I can turn the radio on just by pressing the Power button on the COMAND unit.

I already bought a complete COMAND unit off an auction site. I plan to swap out the Nav Processor. I will probably have the old Nav fixed.
What is involved in removing the Nav processor from the COMAND unit, and can it be done without disconnecting the battery?
