ML350 good??

I am looking forward to upgrading my cars. One of them is going to be a ML350. I wanted to ask if the ones from 2006-2008 are any good. I have a 1998 ML320 and the quality is terrible. The dash is plastic, squeaks and rattles on roads, panel gaps, and issues. The biggest issue was the car's computer. It turned out that it did not work because the cooling fans were not working and eventually overheated. The keys also lost program. I spent $2,000 on repairing it. Mercedes had a first attempt at this SUV. But it is still a good car. So I am looking forward to see if the W164's are better. It is either ML350, Range Rover, or Range Rover Sport. Thanks.

Range rover sport diesel ...no question....had enough of being stranded with my w164 ML 320 CDI , 5 hours last time stuck on the road locked in park Mercedes bought there star computer to no avail had to fit a free wheeling hub kit(yes they have one for when this happens ) so it could be pulled onto a flatbed tow truck. My lexus has a rod to the gear box seems a better way than a electronic motor to do the same job.

Go for the petrol sport, I like the diesel for the torque ,never driven a petrol one, but having worked at the Rover in Solihull for 10 years the engine will be spot on ,at the end of the day our w164 is a nice car to drive but i cant trust it ,ever time my wife goes out im saying have you got your phone just in case it plays up. At 80 ks you should not have to think like this .
luckily the MB warranty has cover all so far .

As for the interior build quality, it's far better, very quiet, little or no squeaks. As for the ML (all models) I'm going to quote Sheldon Coopers first room mate: " Run, Run Far". The Rover Sport is really not any better ether over the long hall. (I also have had three Rovers).

Next stop for use in the SUV market.... ????

Had an 06 ML350 and currently have an 09 ML350 with 70K. No issues to date. I have several friends who had and or have Range Rovers and the ones who currently own them are kicking themselves for not going with Mercedes. Lots of issues old and new models. These guys are physicians and can afford just about anything. My experience has been all good. The 09 is a daily driver and I am planning on keeping it for a long time. I did not buy out the lease on my 06 as I was having throttle issues and on the advice of my independent MB mechanic I got the 09. Good luck what ever you decide on.

Do you take it for repairs at Mercedes Benz dealerships or the average joe down the street? It really does not matter but I think the MB dealerships cared ones are more reliable.

2007 ML350 4-Matic
I have an 07 ml350 purchased brand new in January of 07. Love the car. Very reliable and used as a daily driver. It only has 57k miles and has been taken to the dealer for every service. Previously had an 01 ml320 and loved it. The 2007 w164 is definitely a large step up! Recommend to anyone

My ML320 is easy to describe. Whenever you drive on a crack or bump the ride is cruncy and feels like the suspension is not doing anthing. The interior is squeeky, plasticy, and the engine is loud. It know has a couple problems know. First the front passenger seat back rest button has fallen off, driver window button does not lower or raise window but makes motor sound and the gear shifter has melted. That is why I need my next SUV to be better than that.
