I have a 2011 ML350 and my Sirius XM trial is set to expire later this month. They sent me some good deals on renewing for either 5 months or one year, but I really never listen to the satellite radio, so I probably won't renew. However, I was wondering a) if satellite radio is needed so that the GPS can update, or does that update on its own and b) so that Gracenote can download CD info

I know the satellite radio is needed for the traffic info, which is a separate charge in addition to the satellite radio fee.
