check engine light
I definitely did something to it.

I took the car out to drive around the block and realized the oil change has affected the rpm. The needle is a bit more erratic-going up and down slightly every time i press the brake to come to a stop or when i accelerate. That was not the case before i changed oil.
The "check engine" light is also on.
After reading the threads, I realized I had installed the air filter case to its mount incorrectly. (the back clip wasn't catching it correctly. I realigned the air filter case and is now correctly mounted.)
But the rpm needle is still going up and down and the "check engine" light is still on.
Is is the oil that I'm using possibly?
Also to note: while i was changing the oil filter, i had inadvertently spilled several drops of oil on the belt right below it. Could this be a possible cause?
Your response is greatly appreciated.

That is a great! Unfortunately for me, I threw them away and the trash guys already did their round.

the 0W-30 oil isn't causing this right? because it's an approved oil. so most likely, you are right. I will stop by a parts store and pick up a new filter and see if that works.
Hope you are right! Thank you very much
