Engine oil
I recently had the oil changed and I used Mobil1 0w40.
However the oil did not state that it was for diesel engines... It's this okay or will it damage my engine?
Thanks for your help and feedback.
merry Christmas!

Yeah the specification said to use 229.51.
The Mobil 1 I used said it's the recommended brand for Mercedes and other European cars. It's synthetic and it said (229.5) on the back. On the front it didn't have that (for gasoline engines label) that other oils normally have... Hence I thought it could have been used for both.

Mobil 1 certainly produces an oil which meets the 229.51 specification but I think there are other brands now that also produce oil that meets this specification.

Perhaps you noticed how ink-black the drained oil was? That is normal for diesels, but not normal for gasoline engines.
"Synthetic" is utterly meaningless when it comes to motor oils. Synthetic is not a performance criteria or standard, it is a manufacturing technique. If used right a superior product could result but just because the techniques were used is no assurance of a superior product.
Drilling down deeper 229.51 is a low ash oil, about half the ash of the best commodity diesel motor oil you'll find at Walmart. Ash is bad for DPF and SCR components in your exhaust.
