2008 ML350 bumper replacement cost

I need to replace the bumper of my 2008 ML350.

I've just got a quote with a bottom-line price of $2028 from a body shop (no loaner). They quote the bumper part as $1125, about $1000 more than an "OEM" part I found online (http://www.jcwhitney.com/p3038531/sk...?filterid=g263).

Any thoughts on the part I found and on the price to replace? What have you paid for a complete job recently?

Thank you for your response; however, I'm curious what you mean by "...confronted them rather than us?". What is the confrontation?

The same place just got the OEM part for a BMW I just had repaired without me specifying.

I just asked for a quote. I didn't say "Da".

So, does about $2000 sound right?

A CAPA bumper should be identical to an OEM bumper and not run you more than $400. At most. and that's at the high end.

Painting and installation (grill, fogs, washers, sensors) all this takes more time than your average older model car. So tag $700-$1000 on that.

Assuming all other parts can be reused, grill, fogs, washers, sensors etc then your looking at $1100-$1400.

If other components cant be reused then it adds up fast.
