Replacing 2006 Transmission Valve Body - work around?
As most of you know this is a dealer only part and installation due to the coding of the valve body to the car. Does anyone know if there is a work around this issue at all? I have thought about buying a used transmission and taking the guts out of the good used one and putting it in my valvery body. Does that work?

Have you had the sump off?, if there is a heap of material on the magnets it could be clutch/brake related?
have you tried just giving the valve body a good disassemble and clean?
I found an ATSG rebuild guide for the 722.9 transmission on the web - very helpful in getting the ***** etc back in right spots
I am not an expert in tranny - I had mine surging and grabbing in 2/3 change. Luckily I had a friend who had a transmission shop about 10 years ago who basically did the work

The problem is usually the conductor plate. There are a few on-line sellers that provide these and will do the programming also. Usually between $300 and $500.

Conductor plates can be rebuilt usually by replacing a couple of sensors on the plate. if you have your own plate rebuilt there is no need to visit the dealership for re-coding.
