seat replacement

I got crack on seat and I'd like replace front seats.

I'd like use more quality seats (ie. fully leather) instead of leatherette what I have currently.

Question: can I consider (take) seat from newer model (2010,2009,.) which it is fully leather. I assume it should work with current setup.

Looking forward for some input ....

A.

It might help others if they new what car you have (year/model)

Not sure how useful my input is - Australia

I looked at changing about an 08 seat into an 06 car, the car had 3 wires going to the motor part, one of which turned off after a while, after the door was opened.

The seat only had 2 wires to motors. I took it (by logic only) that I could probably just connect the 2 wires that were only on when the ignition was on. And disregard the third that only activated when the door was opened for a minute or so.

I think if you have memory it will be a big thing.

Also have you just looked at changing the seat back, and seat base (not the whole seat) to avoid wiring issues.

I don't know about where you live, but in Europe and the US the "leatherette" is considered higher quality than the real leather because it doesn't wear as fast, maintains color and finish and doesn't "wrinkle" with time. Virtually all MB's sold in the US are leatherette. The extra money is just not worth it.

I got crack on seat and I wanted to replace. I understand your point about leatherette as main option but I wanted to upgrade seats from newer model where leather was option as well.

I am wondering if I find seats in good condition from year 2010,2011 can I just replace it. My $ 0.02 is telling me yes but i want check it here ...

As fro leatherette option in my car, I hate it It last longer but it is very stiff and not comfortable for sitting.
